WHAT IS THE ORTHODONTIC NATIONAL GROUP?

The Group is a specialist group for Dental Nurses within the U.K. and is an affiliated organisation to the British Orthodontic Society.

The Group caters for the interests of Dental Nurses, Therapists and other associated Dental Care Professionals who work part time or full time in the field of Orthodontics.

The Group was originally formed out of the British Orthodontic Conference, which is held annually, by promoting an Orthodontic Nurse’s Day. It was formed in June 1994.

WHAT ARE THE AIMS OF THE GROUP?

To act on behalf of Dental Nurses and Orthodontic Therapists working primarily in Orthodontics.

To provide a focus for future progress in advancing high standards of Dental Nursing in Orthodontics and to develop the Dental Nurse and Orthodontic Therapist roles within the Dentistry team.

To influence and be part of the decision making process within Dentistry in the U.K.

To obtain extended duties for Orthodontic Dental Nurses and develop the role of Orthodontic Therapists.

CATEGORIES OF MEMBERSHIP.

Full Member:

A member may be any Dental Nurse, Therapist or an associated Dental Care Professional employed full or part time within Orthodontic Dentistry or Dental Nursing. Voting rights only.

Former Dental Nurse Member:

For retired dental nurses.

Honorary Membership:

Awarded by the committee for services to ONG.

MEMBERSHIP FEES:

Annual Membership fee is £10.

HOW IS THE GROUP ORGANISED?

The Group is run by an elected committee and also has regional representatives. The Group is responsible for its own finances.

The Group’s Annual General Meeting is held in September/October during the annual British Orthodontic Conference.

WHO IS ON THE COMMITTEE?

The Committee officer’s are Chairman, Vice Chairman, Development Officer, Administration Secretary, Finance Officer, Membership Secretary, Web Master and with committee members up to a total of ten.
